One of the things you will eventually need to purchase (aside from that excellent digital camera on sale) are memory cards and memory card readers. Anybody who’s anybody takes way more than the necessary amount of photographs. You need to pummel every social media site you’re a member of with photos of the places you go, friends you see, food you eat, and random nonsensical musings you find on your journeys.

No, but seriously, you can’t go wrong having a few good memory cards and a reader for your computer so you can upload the photos. That way you can keep re-using your memory cards by wiping their memories after each upload session. When you get a memory card, aim for one with a decent amount of MB. 16 or 32MB should be sufficient to get a lot of shots in. do not worry about getting all perfect shots either. It’s best to browse through your selection later than worry about doing it on the go, that is, unless your shot is a complete screw up.

A reader drive can be installed into your computer or it can be an external accessory. The USB connecting ones are slightly easier but the drives are just as efficient and probably more durable in the long-term.

It’s basically a modern day shrine to technology. A home entertainment system is not just the big LCD flatscreens. It’s whole shebang. The question is, which of these formats do you need for your camera and out of the compatible tapes which are the best quality? Breaking down the options by format and clarity is the easiest.

Older camcorders took 8mm, High 8, and Digital 8 formats. The more common formats now are DVC, miniDV, and DVD. The tapes can often hold up to 60 minutes of footage. When you buy the new tapes for your camcorder look at the options you have. The boxes will give all the details specific to the tape. Check and see if your camera is compatible with HD recording. Sometimes getting the tapes in larger packs is smart because you have the chance of a greater discount. Single cassettes and packs of 5 or 10 are the most common.

On your video camera you can set these formats for standard play (SP) and you’ll get that average (and often recommended) hour. On DVDs and other discs you get approximately half an hour. There are different types of digital cameras. There are point and shoot and there are DSLR cameras.

Should you be the type who carefully plans each shot you take, likes experimenting with settings, lighting, angles, and everything else, you need to go with the DSLR. But I don’t know what to look for because my current TV is a box.” If you’re looking online then you’re going to find some great deals on both. There are discount LCD and LED flatscreens available, you just need to know which of the two you want. so, without further ado, why don’t we go over the basics of each.

LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Diode. It’s used in everything from watches to microwaves. In TV terms, it basically just means you’re getting a clear, colorful image. They’re brighter than the average TV and the color isn’t going to be as flushed out by ambient light. Their proportions fit widescreen standards too. They also consume less energy than plasma TVs. They’re also common enough now that you can get fantastic discount LCD TVs.

LED TVs are just backlit LCDs and they’re pricier because of it. Don’t let anyone fool you otherwise. It’s not that that doesn’t come in handy- LCDs are not as clear in dark rooms as LEDs, so without the backlighting your movie night could be a  lukewarm experience. canon dslr camerasI walked into college with a brand new point and shoot camera. I was all excited that I had a cool new camera with HD features and great capture settings. Yup, I was the big man on campus… or was I? By the time my friends began their photography classes in the Viz arts building I began to realize I was pretty much the only one without a DSLR.

These are the professional cameras. They’re literally just the digital of a single-lens reflex camera, the “d” standing for digital. Basically, they take better pictures because they are made for precision. In a twin system, there are different light paths, one leading to the film and the other to a viewfinder. In this system you’re getting on path that operates for both. what you see is what you get. On top of that they’re just faster, have better lenses and better adjustable features.

If you’re a brand person like I am then you’ll want to know exactly what you’re getting and what to look for when choosing. The Canon DSLR cameras are divided into several popular product lines. You’ll notice that many will have a 1.6x Field of View Crop sensor. The focal length of lenses is multiplied 1.6 times with these. If you want wide angle photography then a Full Frame sensor is appropriate.

The other thing is that when looking for digital cameras for sale that you check their lens compatibility. Having a good array of lenses will improve your overall satisfaction with the product. What would be the point to upgrading to Canon DSLR cameras if you didn’t want the benefit of the accessories?

So has the cliche “take a picture, it’ll last longer.” But what about the quotes about motion picture capture, “Your face belongs in movies,” and all that jazz? It seems like everyone I know has bought their Canon DSLR cameras but not nearly as many have gotten new video cameras on sale.

Sure, there are motion capture features on digital cameras but it’s not quite the same as buying an actual camcorder. When your child takes her first steps or says her first words- be them “Mama” or “onomatopoeia”- you want to capture the full moment, not just a snapshot. Your memory will serve you well enough in your younger years but as you age and so does your kid you’ll wish you had footage of it. Video cameras are just a better choice for those moments.

And when it comes to video cameras you should be looking for something that fits your needs and your budget. If you’re planning on a crash course in indie filmmaking you’re best bet is to look for high quality HD digital cameras on sale than the typical small handheld family-style camcorders. That is, unless you’re making another Blair Witch project imitation film. In those scenarios you want discount digital cameras so you can make it look really grimy. Once again though for families and friends a simple handheld camcorder that uses DV and mini DV cassettes or DVDs should suffice.
